Alliance Medical Ministry:
This registered 501(c) non-profit charitable corporation was founded in 2000. The clinic first opened its doors on January 6, 2003 with a mission to provide affordable, primary medical care to low income, uninsured working families in Wake County. Located just steps from the renowned WakeMed Hospital at 101 Donald Ross Drive in Raleigh, Alliance operates like any other private doctor's office.
Board certified physicians provide general primary care to patients who pay a small fee. The fee covers time with a physician, any necessary lab work or x-rays, most medications, and health education. Alliance links with many community partners to provide the highest quality, comprehensive treatment available.
The comprehensive care provided includes acute and chronic medical care, urgent care appointments, preventative medicine and health education, monthly screening eye exams for diabetic patients, all necessary lab work, free or reduced priced medications, monthly ENT and GYN clinics, bilingual services, and 24-hour coordination of care including a bilingual after-hours answering service.
Alliance anticipates providing 15,000 patient visits in 2008. Since opening its doors in January of 2003, AMM has consistently operated under budget despite a more than 30% growth in services each year.
Approximately 25% of AMM patients are direct referrals from local hospital emergency rooms. Over 60% of these referrals have never had health insurance or have been without it for over a year. 97% of AMM patients have an annual household income of less than $25,000. 49% are Latino, 29% are African-American, 4% are Asian-American, and 60% are women. Volunteer at Alliance There's a place for everyone at Alliance Medical Ministry, from providing annual funding support, to translating for patients, to answering the phones and filing important medical documents. Volunteers, both medical and administrative, are integral to the success of Alliance.
